Saw palmetto doesn't help enlarged prostate symptoms when taken at a typical dosage, a new study shows. It doesn't reduce the frequent urge to urinate or other enlarged prostate symptoms, such a weak urinary stream. The typical dosage is 160 milligrams twice a day. A higher dose might alleviate mild symptoms—a new study on this is in the final planning stages.

Best: For now, don't stop taking saw palmetto if it seems to help.
