New ADHD patch is available. The Daytrana patch, which is worn for nine hours per day by children with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, contains methylphenidate—the same stimulant found in Ritalin.

The patch is recommended for children ages six to 12 who have ADHD and may provide an alternative for those children who have trouble swallowing pills. It can be removed immediately if it causes side effects, such as nausea or irritability. Ask your child's pediatrician for more information.
