Glucose meters that check blood sugar should be tested for accuracy every time users open a new pack of test strips, get a new meter or suspect a malfunction. A recent survey found that only 23% of patients with diabetes who use glucose meters said they followed these manufacturer recommendations

Here's how to test a glucose meter: Use one drop of the control-solution liquid on the test strip (just like you would check your own blood sugar) to test the accuracy of both the meter and packages of test strips.
