People who have asthma are especially sensitive to sulfites, a type of preservative typically found in bottled wines. Sulfites can also be found in processed foods, such as dried fruits, molasses, condiments, sauces and soup mixes, dehydrated and prepeeled raw potatoes, baked goods and jellies.

Self defense: Read food labels and avoid products that contain sulfur, sulfites, bisulfites or metabisulfites.
