Heart attack rates have declined in cities that have banned smoking in public places.

Example: After Pueblo, Colorado, banned smoking in restaurants, bars and other public places, the number of heart attacks fell by almost 30%. Thirty-five thousand Americans die of heart disease caused by exposure to secondhand smoke.
