Using naproxen (Aleve) as a painkiller has LJ no risk of triggering a heart attack. It doesn't raise heart attack or stroke risk, unlike some other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Vioxx or Celebrex, and is inexpensive because generic versions are available.

Drawback: Naproxen can irritate the stomach, increase blood pressure slightly and/or adversely affect kidney function.
