Women respond differently than men to certain drugs and should be aggressive in researching their medications. Women have been underrepresented in clinical drug studies, which long assumed that they respond to drugs as men do. But in fact, women suffer more adverse drug events than men do.

Steps: Understand the need for a drug. Ask a doctor or pharmacist about side effects and potential interactions with other drugs and be sure to understand correct dosage amounts and timing of doses.
