Plant-based diet eases diabetic nerve pain, according to Anne Bunner, Phd. In a 20 week study of people with diabetic neuropathy (which often leads to pain and numbness in the legs and feet), half ate a low-fat vegan diet and took a vitamin B-12 supplement (diabetes patients are often deficient in B-12), and the other half took only the supplement.

Result: The group eating the plant-based diet had significantly greater pain relief and lost more weight than the other group.
