Recent study: Depressed people are twice as likely as others to die or have another heart attack within two years of the first one.

Self defense: 'People who have heart disease -or who are at high risk for it-and are depressed should consult their cardiologists about the most appropriate treatment, which might include antidepressants and psychotherapy.
