Hiccups are a surprising sign of cancer, according to a report from Europe.

Recent finding: 27% of esophageal cancer patients had experienced persistent hiccups prior to diagnosis. People who have hiccups for more than 48 hours—especially if accompanied by swallowing problems and/or weight loss—should see their physicians. The incidence of this very serious cancer is on the rise.
