Sciatica pain often gets better on its own. There is no evidence that spinal decompression does any good. Anti-inflammatory drugs, cortisone shots and exercises that strengthen abdominal and back muscles may speed healing.
Also useful: Place a pillow behind your lower back while driving. Place a pillow under your knees when sleeping on your back—or between your knees when you sleep on your side.
