Trap: In most states, it's legal for any medical doctor (MD) to perform plastic surgery-including those whose training is in a different field and who have no experience in it.
Safety: Check a doctor's experience and credentials before committing to a procedure. Get references from other patients, and verify the doctor's certifications through the American Board of Medical Specialties, www.abms.org.
