Trying to Stop Hormone Therapy?

Stopping abruptly after menopause results in more hot flashes within the first three months than stopping gradually. Gradual stopping—reducing the dose by one tablet per week per month, so hormones are stopped in six months—reduces short-term hot flashes but makes them more likely after six months. Fast or slow stopping makes no difference after nine or 12 months.
