Shingles Vaccine

The first shingles vaccine, Zostavax, has been approved by the FDA for adults 60 and older who previously had chickenpox. If you had chickenpox, you can develop shingles, which can cause itching, burning, tingling and a red rash that develops into painful pus-filled blisters. Pain can be intense and persists in some patients for months or years. The vaccine reduces shingles incidence by half. Ask your doctor if Zostavax is right for you.
