Prostate Cancer and Surgery

Most surgeons prefer to wait for post-biopsy inflammation to subside before surgically removing a cancerous prostate gland. There's little cause for concern, however. A recent study of nearly 4,000 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy (removal of the prostate) within a year of diagnosis found that the time between the biopsy and surgery did not affect the success of the surgery or risk for cancer recurrence.
