Ask Your Doctor About Aspirin Therapy

Aspirin therapy may not prevent heart disease in diabetics. Diabetes increases the risk for heart attack and stroke, and daily aspirin use can help prevent these life-threatening events-so aspirin therapy would seem worthwhile for people with diabetes.

However: A recent study shows that aspirin has no protective effect in patients with diabetes who do not already have heart disease (but it seems to help diabetics who already have heart disease). Talk to your doctor.
